Gene Targeting Facility

The Gene Targeting Facility provides advanced genome engineering services to support the creation of custom mouse models. Using state-of-the-art CRISPR/Cas9 and homologous recombination technologies, the facility enables precise gene modifications, including knockouts, knock-ins, and conditional alleles.

Our team offers end-to-end support, from project design and validation through to delivery of genetically modified embryonic stem cells or live mice. This service is ideal for researchers seeking tailored solutions for functional genomics and disease modeling.

Gene modification by micro-injection

This service enables precise genetic modification through pronuclear or cytoplasmic microinjection of CRISPR/Cas9 components and donor DNA into fertilised mouse embryos. Microinjection is ideal for generating targeted knockouts, knock-ins, and point mutations with high accuracy. The process includes embryo handling, injection, and transfer to foster mothers, ensuring efficient production of genetically modified mice.

Gene modification by electroporation

Electroporation offers a streamlined approach for introducing CRISPR/Cas9 reagents and donor templates into zygotes using electrical pulses. This method is highly efficient for creating targeted mutations without the need for complex microinjection procedures. Electroporation reduces technical barriers and accelerates the generation of custom mouse models for functional genomics research.
